So into you....

When we least expect it, we meet someone, in a coffee shop, store, party or wherever, that you feel in your soul that you have known forever.  Yet, in reality, you have never met them before this moment.  You chat, you exchange the likes and dislikes of things.  You share tidbits of knowledge, experiences, stories that you have not shared in years and they acknowledge that WOW! yes, I have been there too!
I am always amazed when this happens.  You build a friendship and voila! it remains.  Even if life keeps them or you busy, when you meet again, by chance or by gathering of friends, the conversation is just as comfortable as a pair of bedroom slippers that you have had for years.
As a single woman, when I meet a man like that, the first thing I do is pray to God a small prayer of thank you.  Scintillating conversation, appreciation of who we each are and that glow that love can bring.  (not the flash of lust or infatuation.)  It is rare to meet a man who makes you forget you have ever had a broken heart.  The kind that is balanced and smart.  (Some California ladies that I know have stated that it is a search for intelligent life, that we seek most of all. LOL)  When you close restaurants because you keep talking about anything and everything for hours and hours, it becomes clear that this is a rare event to be enjoyed.
These "out of the box" relationships men or women are rare but are what create life long friends or lovers, who become friends or remain as partners.
I have made these relationships with people in High School, college and during my career and especially by being a parent.  Placed in all those social situations you cannot help but find people that think like you, feel your bond and become a friend for life.  Even if they don't talk to you for months, when they do you find that it is like you have just spoken to them yesterday.
Yesterday, while window shopping with my son for Christmas, I met a woman that I had not seen for a year.  We met at a grocery store and she was shopping for a "fancy" dinner for family coming to town.  She and I sat after shopping together and talked for over a hour with coffee and hot chocolate about family, food and our fav recipes   I had not forgotten Romona and she had not forgotten me.  We exchanged mini life stories and then hugged as the night was falling hard and we both needed to get home.
If and when I meet one of my "bond" friends, I tell myself that I will not push this relationship that I will let it mature and be content with what I have.  If it continues, I will be a very fortunate woman to have met this friend. I have waited my whole life to meet them and I am going to enjoy these times with my friends.
So, while you are shopping or in the grocery or just in a Starbucks.  Say Hello!  Beware the grumpy person, you will know them.  But, who knows, you may meet that friend.  A friend that is "so into you".  And you will be so into them that they are worth exchanging e-mails and phone numbers with.  Because, when my kid is grown and off to college, I do know who to spend my time with and know that then we will have even more time and experiences and stories to share they will be there to share a coffee or hot chocolate with and be someone that I am still "So into"!
